We had deluxe room on the 8th Floor with a fabulous view over the Port (relatively distant so no noise). This, in itself, was so interesting, we woke up to see Cruise ships, the movement of boats going out to sea, even schooners, tall ships and naval vessels. The young members of staff on Reception were excellent, so helpful and attended to all our needs. There was a nice continental breakfast freshly prepared every morning. Even a rooftop terrace to sit and relax in! It was a 10 minute walk to the sandy beach (Canteras, with it's lovely promenade) and so many restaurants to choose from in the evening. The traditional market a few minutes away was a gem - take a look at the beautifully arranged Tapas stalls.

The hotel is conveniently located just a 15-minute walk from Las Canteras Beach, with many supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The bed was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and spoke English well. We initially had an issue with the hot water in our bathroom, but it was resolved quickly. The breakfast was also good and tasty.

Great location, near to the beach, shops and restaurants, with a bus stop right outside. It was very clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was excellent.

We stayed at the Hotel Matilde for two weeks, room only. Our east and south facing room overlooked the port, a park (cafe, rose garden, fountains) and the Castillo de la Luz (Fabulous conversion into the Martin Chirino art foundation - see it). Our room had a fridge, balcony with chairs and table, safe, plenty of storage etc and a large bed. There's a roof terrace overlooking the busy port (you can watch the cruise liners come and go!) so take a bottle of wine up there. We didn't have breakfast (ate our own feast on our balcony) but it looked fine. You can buy an excellent coffee for E1.50 at reception (I think there's a coffee maker in some of the more expensive rooms) and right next door there's a cafe. Supermarkets - small Suma to the right, large Dino's to the left over the road. Buses are constant and just E1.40 for any distance within Las Palmas. For the La Canteras beach with all the restaurants and bars, turn right and walk about 8 mins - perfect! The beach is nearly two miles long and great for people watching (and breakfast, lunch, dinner etc by the sea). Porto Market and the superb Aquarium are close by (walking distance.). Old Town - take the number one bus, about 20 mins. for the Columbus House, CAAM and Museo Canario. To get to Hotel Matilde, take the blue bus from the airport (stand 5) to Santa Catalina, then the 1 or 12 yellow bus from there - it stops right outside the hotel. Or walk, it's very close. Boats to the other Canary Islands leave from the port - turn left out of the hotel then right into the port entrance. OK that's practically sold it to you, but the very best thing about Hotel Matilde is the staff; so a big thanks to Jeremiah and the kind and helpful team for making us so welcome on our first trip to the Canary Islands.

Everything was good. The room's balcony and the hotel's rooftop terrace were great to sit at and enjoy the view. The location is good, if you want to go to the city beach.

This is a good three-star hotel, very clean and functional. It is opposite a nice park around Castillo de la Luz (well worth visiting), though I had no view from my room. The hotel has a roof terrace with great views, but without service. Also, just 10-15 minutes walk, and you are at Playa de Canteras. There are nice bars and restaurants around. 3 minutes walk from the hotel, there is a bus stop that takes you to the Old Town within 15-20 minutes (though it is completely odd that the last bus leaves the city after 10 pm in a touristy place like Las Palmas; taxis would be expensive). I did not have breakfast in the hotel.

Very organized and clean space. Spaceous enough, with a great view and an even better location. Located in the center od Las Palmas, just a few minutes from the Las Canteras beach. There was even a rooftop on the top floor that had an amazing view of the city and port nearby. Friendly staff and the hygiene was kept on a high level. Would reccomend for a shorter or longer stay.

Staying at Hotel Matilde was an amazing experience! We traveled with two 10-month-old babies and ever since we came to the hotel everything was great! We booked two rooms, one bigger family room and one smaller double room. The cribs had cute baby sheets and the rooms were super clean. The staff was so friendly and helpful, we really felt great there! Paula, Hermias and the rest of the staff from the reception were so professional and helpful. We ate breakfast every morning, it was really good, diverse and delicious. Maria, the breakfast chef was wonderful! She is a warm and kind person, she even bought a cute little teddy bear and a rabbit for our babies who also loved her! The location of the hotel was also great, the hotel is located very close to Las Canteras beach (10 minutes walk), close to the bus station, park (which is just across the street), stores and a big supermarket (2 minutes walk). All in all it was a great stay and we will definitely come and stay there again when coming to Las Palmas! :)
